Book Review: Endless by Amanda Gray

Endless - Amanda Gray

Note: I received a free e-copy of this book for my honest review. I was not paid to write this review.

Throughout reading Endless by Amanda Gray, one word constantly popped into my mind to describe my reading experience: INTENSE. This book was quite the intense read with plenty of secrets, unexplainable dreams/experiences, and time traveling. Although much of what’s happening is due to a romance that transcends time, the focus of the plot really is the mystery of it all.

There are three main characters: Jenny, the heroine; Nikolai, Jenny’s romantic partner from another time; and Ben, Jenny’s new friend that’s also caught up in the whole problems from the past mess that they’re in. Of all the characters, I felt Ben was the only one that really grew. He befriended Jenny despite his problems, and he even faced his fears. (Granted Jenny did help.) Then there’s Nikolai, who really isn’t in the story a whole lot. His past self, in the forms of dreams/memories, was possibly there equally as much as his present self. Also Jenny never really solves any of her problems. If anything she simply created more questions. She did, however, learn to trust people with her secrets. Then again, it’s kind of hard to keep it a secret from someone that’s experiencing it with you, like Ben.

Knowing that there’s questions still unanswered, the story actually didn’t end in a major cliffhanger. Much of the original questions brought up at the beginning were answered. However, the story is far from complete. Without a sequel, this story would be a fail in my book, and I’d rate it considerably low. There are so many new unanswered questions at the end of the book regarding Jenny’s mom, her ability to see people’s pasts, and her relationship with Nikolai, her father, and even Ben. Plus the Order can’t be done with her yet, I’m sure. So I’m going to give this story 4 stars assuming a sequel is in the works.

Overall, Endless by Amanda Gray is a great, interesting story. You may get a bit frustrated with all the questions and lack of answers, but it’s necessary for the mystery of it all. If you’re expecting a romance though, there really isn’t all that much in this story.
