I love soul-mate stores, and Grasping at Eternity by Karen Amanda Hooper didn’t disappoint at all! Maryah and Nathaniel will be a couple you’re rooting for.

In the story, bodies may die, but souls never do. As your soul lives on, you have the decision to erase or retain your memories. Maryah, Nathaniel, and their fellow elementals have always retained their memories, but this time Maryah, for some unknown reason, has decided to erase, leaving her soul-mate, Nathaniel, without his other half.

It was so enjoyable watching everyone embrace Maryah; it was frustrating to see Maryah not remember anything; and it was painful to see Nathaniel slowly give up on his love for Maryah thinking that he’ll forever be alone. There are also some small unexpected twists along the way. Overall, the story was such a ride.

The story ended with some unanswered questions; the biggest being why Maryah erased her memory, and what’s going on with the men that were hunting to kill Maryah. Luckily, the second book in the series - Taking Back Forever – has already been released! I’m so happy Maryah is back with her family even though she lost her parents and brother, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
