For those of you who don't know me, I'm a bookseller, post graduate job seeker, avid reader, and a blogger. :)
Inescapable by Amy A. Bartol, the first book in the Premonition series, has been on my TBR list for a while now. I’m so glad I finally read it! It was an interesting Paranormal YA Romance featuring angels. Who would have thought so many different types of angels could have existed. The existence of Evie, the heroine, alone is very unique, an angel with a soul.
The main couple in this story is Evie and Reed, although it may not seem like it at first. Unfortunately there is somewhat of a love triangle, since Evie’s soulmate is actually Russell. I feel a bit bad for Russell. Although he seems to be a great guy and he’s technically her soulmate, I’m very much on Team Reed.
There’s a lot of interesting developments in this story. It has a lot of action! Additionally the twists that occur was totally unexpected for me. The story seriously kept me on my toes. I couldn’t put it down! Such an exciting and interesting read!
One thing that annoyed me was all the secrets. I guess I understand the reason why they’re kept secrets and why Reed couldn’t tell Evie certain things, but I was super frustrated right along with Evie. I totally wanted to know what was going on!
Overall, I’d give the story 5 stars! It has action, it has romance, and although there’s also a love triangle, which I absolutely hate, it’s very obvious in this book that one guy wins out over the other. There’s no question about who Evie truly wants to be with more.
I can’t wait to read the next installment, but I’m holding back for a few reasons. Firstly, I have a bunch of other books I need to read first, many of which are ARCs. Secondly, with the way the book ended and from reading reviews of the next books in the series, it seems that the love triangle could possibly get more complicated… I hate love triangles! It was one of my “Top Ten Book Turn Offs.” So I might wait a while before continuing…
