Book Review: Off the Record by K.A. Linde

Off the Record - K.A. Linde

Note: I received an eARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. I was not paid to write this review.

Off the Record by KA Linde was something I really wanted to enjoy. It ended up being just okay for me though. Personally I thought the characters fell a bit short. Liz, the main female character in particular, realized something that I’ve been wanting her to realize throughout the entire book at the end. Seriously, it took her long enough…

Although the main male protagonist, Brady, was a jerk, I can’t hate him. He was pretty upfront about his intentions to put his career first right from the get go. Liz, on the other hand, wasn’t as strong as I wanted her to be. She knew his MO was changing. I so wanted her to call him out on it and call the shots for once, but she kind of just let him walk all over her and followed him wherever.

There was also a bit of a love triangle thrown in. I’m not sure what’s up with that really. I understand it, and yet I don’t. It’s a very minor aspect though. It didn’t bug me per say. I think I just questioned why it’s there and am still trying to figure out what it adds to the story besides helping Liz come to the big realization I wanted her to come to throughout the entire story.

Regardless of how frustrating Liz was for me, I liked that she finally had that realization at the end. So I’m excited to see where this goes in the next installment, and I hope it gets better as the series goes along.

Overall I found Off the Record by KA Linde to be just okay, but I’m not giving up. I have high hopes for the second book, and hope Liz becomes a stronger character. I get she’s in love, but I hope she takes charge of her love life and starts asking for what she needs in a relationship. The relationship they had in Off the Record wasn’t really a healthy relationship at all. So I’d give 2.5 stars to Off the Record.
